Right now the world is under quite a lot of stress. Yes, the students of the world are having a hard time figuring out how to work the schedule and most highschool senior’s graduation is being called off, but adult’s source of income is being blocked and some laid off because of the outbreak. As of March 20, 2020, 281,000 people lost their jobs and were claiming for unemployment. There were so many people that the system wasn’t able to withhold it and completely crashed. Without a steady way of income, the people of the world will have a financial strain on their lives. Companies have generally prohibited business travel. Families are afraid to fly in fear of getting infected. This all has a ripple effect. Airlines, aircraft manufacturers and their suppliers, resorts, hotels, restaurants, sporting events, cruise lines, conferences, and music concerts will be negatively impacted. Manufacturing is going to get hit hard too. The three big automakers, such as, General Motors, Ford and Fiat Chrysler have all announced that they will suspend operations at their factories in the United States. With all these businesses being hit hard some sales are through the roof such as hand sanitizer, food stores, and toilet paper manufacturers. Hospitals will be crowded to the max and as of right now and family members aren’t allowed to visit those in the hospital. Many are paranoid that people are going to break into their house and steal bottled water, food, and even paper towels and cleaning supplies. People such as cancer survivors and those with illnesses are taking this outbreak very seriously while people on the popular social media platform, Tik Tok, think this a joke. People with immune problems with kids are taking precautions such as not even letting their children outside in the backyard. Since I'm not allowed to go out of my house, I decided to interview them. My father, Sean Growney, is a sales manager who just started working for a solar company doing direct sales. Even though no people were complaining, his work recently shut down last week. Those who didn’t want to interact with my father’s company simply didn’t answer the door. Even though he has a few consumers, he has to maintain his work ethic to bring in more customers through phone calls and networking. He is less stressed than my mother about the COVID-19 but without being able to go door to door it makes money tighter. I hope as though many people come out of this alive and well. My regards to anyone who is suffering right now to the sickness and those whose loved ones have passed away. Remember to wash your hands and practice social distancing!
So...Cheers? By:Amanda Growney
Many citizens recover from COVID-19. It is now predicted that 99 percent of individuals who are diagnosed with the COVID-19 virus will recover. Some may have very little signs at all. And although thousands of people have died, the actual mortality risk is only 1% (or maybe even lower), much fewer than Ebola (90%), though greater than the typical seasonal flu (0.1%).The loss of life-related to this illness is terrible and far more cases are expected, but based on the fatality rates alone, it could be far worse.
Children tend to be infected less frequently and suffer from milder diseases. Before recently, the vast majority of diseases have infected people, according to the CDC. And when sick, children tend to get milder sickness. That is positive news for the kids and their parents. It is important to remember, however, that infection may occur in children. Recent research from China early in the epidemic revealed that a limited number of children may develop a severe infection, particularly babies and babies. Kids are prone to transmit infection in the absence of symptoms but it is uncertain how frequently this occurs. This current coronavirus does not act like so many other diseases that are especially susceptible to the elderly and the young.
The number of new cases is falling where the outbreak began. For the first time since the epidemic started, Wuhan province (site of the very first outbreaks) has confirmed no new local infections. Although real numbers are difficult to check, and the approaches used by these countries to control infections, such as intensive medical testing and severe isolation procedures. If the number of new cases in China is truly declining, that’s a good thing and suggests that efforts to contain the spread of this infection can be successful.
The internet exists. If this was happening a decade and a half ago people would be in serious trouble. They would not be able to make calls, do their school work, or text their friends about how bored they are. People in isolation or quarantine can seek support, visit friends, electronically "see" the family and doctors, and receive updates on their condition.
They will strengthen our reaction to potential pandemics. The COVID-19 pandemic has identified weaknesses in health-care services around the world that offer a potential for change. For example, the next time around it can be expected to see quicker global reaction, improved and faster delivery of test kits, and more organized and consistent public messaging.
Tracking the Coronavirus

Origin Coronaviruses are common in many different types of animals and can mutate rapidly. The Coronavirus causing this pandemic is believed to have come from an animal but then the disease mutated to have the ability to infect humans. Scientists are still inconclusive about which animal it came from but it has been found that this particular strain of Coronavirus is ninety-six percent like the kind found in bats. It is thought by scientists that the virus began in December of 2019 but scientists have not been able to conclude exactly where it first appeared. The first infections were spotted in Wuhan, China, which is closer to the southeast edge of China, and quickly spread to surrounding areas. Although China was quick to close borders and transportation, people with the Coronavirus had already traveled to other countries before China had shut things down.
Throughout the World Currently, the Coronavirus is most prevalent in Europe. China has begun to have a decline in spreading while Europe has had a dramatic increase in spreading. The virus has caused international travel shutdowns and quarantines in Europe, Brazil, China, and the United States. Despite many people being quarantined inside homes, this has actually been good for the environment. This is due to the quarantines, prohibited travel, and job shutdowns that actually decreased the carbon emissions and pollution caused by people. This resulted in nature and animals returning to places like busy cities where they could not live before. The virus has also spread to almost the entire world with very large appearances in Russia, South America, and Australia. Africa, however, has not had many sightings of the virus compared to the rest of the world. The highest infection and death counts are shown to be in China, Spain, Italy, France, Brazil, Canada, and the United States.
In the United States The United States has a total of an estimated 33,404 cases of Coronavirus as well as around 400 deaths. President Trump has issued a ban on most international travel to and from the US. Also many states have issued quarantines and job shutdowns. Coronavirus is most prevalent in busy states such as California and Washington and the most cases are in New York. The states with the least recordings of disease mostly are central northern states like Montana and South Dakota as well as separately West Virginia. Many states have cancelled school as well as many jobs that aren't vital. Some of the businesses that are still open are what the government considers to be essential, such as hospitals, pharmacies, food service, grocery stores, gas stations and shipping. People in the U.S. are also urged to avoid social gatherings of more than six people and stay six feet away from people at all times.
In New Jersey The cases of coronavirus in New Jersey has reached 1,914 cases and 20 deaths and there have been statewide shutdowns and a state of emergency has been declared. Cases of coronavirus are more common at the northeast edge of the state and become less frequent the more you move to the southwest. The governor of New Jersey declared a state wide quarantine and many schools were shut down. Along with the schools, people were advised to stay in their homes and avoid going near people and large groups. In the Tinton Falls area, there has only been a single reported case. Schools have also been shut down in the area and everyone is asked to stay home unless absolutely necessary.
